When we started 2021 we were cautiously optimistic about what lay ahead little were we to know this would be one of the toughest and trying years for myself, Jodie and the family.
Whilst the year started well with renewed signs of confidence and activity and as we built on the foundations of our third year in business, I was rushed to Prince Charles Hospital early one morning in June not knowing what was wrong with me.
As many of you know within six hours of being admitted to the emergency department, I was told I needed lifesaving surgery for bowel cancer. What followed the surgery was ten days in hospital and a long road ahead with chemotherapy treatment in my future. We knew we needed the support of our family, friends and broader community to get us through.
When we first sent out the message that I was very ill we were amazed and thrilled by the support shown to us by you all. The understanding well wishes and plethora of gifts were amazing and I think at one stage we seriously considered opening a florist shop! This support was critical in helping me keep a positive attitude for the trying days that would lie ahead and give me the strength to face my illness head on.
Since August I have made a return to work in a limited capacity and with the amazing efforts of Julienne and Chrissy we have managed to keep on top of our workloads and try to continue to provide a high level of service. At times we have had to ask for your patience and understanding and we thank all of you for giving me the time to focus on getting better.
I can now look forward with confidence for 2022 knowing that I will be much stronger and get back to full health. To my family, friends and broader community I thank you all for your support as it has helped myself, Jodie and the family get through this challenging time. We wish you and your families a safe and Merry Christmas. Our office will re-open on the 4th January 2022, Jodie and myself will be back from the 10th January 2022.
